Dr. Patrick Nuzzo, DN

Founder, President

Patrick Nuzzo started his journey in Integrative Manual Medicine in 1974 when he began his studying nutrition, and later formulating, marketing and distributing nutritional supplements, including a sports nutrition line for Walter Payton.

In 1979, he began his Naprapathic education and graduated in 1983. Since then, Dr. Nuzzo has practiced Naprapathy in Santa Barbara, California; Arlington Heights, Illinois; Lake Zurich, Illinois; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In 2000, he helped introduce the Naprapathic Practice Act of New Mexico, and in 2004 got it signed into law making it possible for Naprapaths to practice in New Mexico. In 2006, Dr. Nuzzo obtained a license in New Mexico to offer a doctoral program through the new Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine and Health Sciences (SUNM), and opened SUNM in 2010 in Santa Fe. Under Dr. Nuzzo’s leadership, SUNM earned accreditation in 2021.

Co-author of two books on Naprapathy and Anti-Inflammatory Medicine, Dr. Nuzzo is a one-of-a-kind educator, clinician, nutritionist, healer, and entrepreneur. His goal is to transform the world of conventional, western medicine by incorporating and integrating Naprapathy as the manual treatment of choice in reducing and managing musculoskeletal pain, stress, and inflammation.


Dr. Dominique Alò, MSc, PhD

Executive Director

Biologist, scientific consultant, and data analyst.

Since 2010, Dr. Alò has been collaborating with the Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine (SUNM) in developing research capabilities and training students for capstone projects, theses, and dissertations.

In 2021, as an initial board of directors’ member, she assisted in launching NRF, where she now leads the research department and oversees fundraising efforts. Dr. Alò also continues to supervise naprapathic doctoral students  from SUNM through their research projects in collaboration with other faculty, physicians, and researchers.

To date, Dr. Alò has led several projects as Principal Investigator, establishing the scientific importance of naprapathy through evidence-based practice.
